Bespoke staircases
White Steps, an Ascent of Air
A staircase can be a simple connection or an architectural gesture. Here it is unmistakably the latter: white steps rise cantilevered against the dark wall of vertical slats, protected by a transparent pane of glass that lets them breathe, as if the ascent took place in mid-air. The camera starts from below, where the last steps widen into an invitation, and carries the gaze up to the floor above: white on black, solid on void, an alternation of pauses and flights with the rhythm of a musical score. Around it, the luminous living room confirms the choice: pale materials, natural light, nothing superfluous. Staircases are one of the historic categories of Michelessi's work: treads, risers and landings cut to measure, studied down to the finest thickness so that stone appears light. It is the most beautiful paradox of the craft: precise machines and expert hands are needed to make everything seem weightless. Since 1976 our technicians have stood beside architects and clients, turning every idea into a three-dimensional design before turning it into matter. If your home deserves a memorable ascent, let us draw it together, step by step.
