Italian marble kitchens worldwide

Michelessi has been designing, building and installing indoor and outdoor marble kitchens since 1976. Every kitchen is born in our workshop in Aprilia, on the Via Pontina between Rome and Latina, and sets out from there towards the home that commissioned it: in Italy, across Europe and beyond. Distance does not change the craft. It only changes the tools we use to talk to you: video calls alongside visits to the workshop, samples delivered to your door in place of slabs handled in person, a step-by-step measuring guide where a site survey is not yet possible. The result is the one we deliver in Rome: a kitchen designed to measure, cut and finished in Italy, fitted by our own hands.

We are not a dealer and we do not work from a catalogue. We are a marble workshop with half a century of history, CNC cutting centres and artisans who have known stone all their lives. Clients who find us from abroad are looking for precisely this: genuine Made in Italy, the kind you recognise in book-matched veining, in a joint as fine as a pencil line, in a worktop that arrives finished and settles into place to the millimetre.

• Indoor marble kitchens: worktops, islands, splashbacks and waterfall sides in Calacatta, Bianco Carrara, Statuario, Nero Marquina, travertine and onyx; bespoke from a single drawing or modular, with tops in marble, Dekton, Fenix or quartz. A marble kitchen is built to the exact dimensions of its room. When that room is thousands of kilometres away, the method stays the same, with four steps given extra care.

Measurements

We ask you for photographs of the space, hand-drawn measurements of the walls, and the position of windows, sockets, drains and the appliances you have chosen. If an architect or contractor is working on site, we speak with them directly and receive their drawings; where the project provides for it, final measurements are checked again by our own team before cutting.

The 3D design

From the measurements comes the 3D design: the finished kitchen set within your room, with the layout of the units, the finishes and the veining of the chosen slab. You review it at leisure, refine it with us and approve it before the stone is touched. It is the preview that removes surprises: what you see in the drawing is what comes out of the crate.

Video calls

The workshop is open at a distance too. Over a video call we show you the slabs available, the chosen slab before cutting, the work in progress and, where the project allows, the kitchen dry-assembled in the workshop before packing. Anyone who wishes is welcome in Aprilia: a visit to our showroom remains the finest way to choose a stone.

Marble samples

The colour of a marble cannot be judged on a screen. That is why we send samples of the stones and finishes under consideration, so you can compare them in the real light of your room, against your floors and your doors. The final slab is then photographed in full and approved by you, because every block is unique and the veining we bring to your home must be the one you chose.

Our work abroad has a name: Dubai. Bespoke interiors and exteriors in marble, natural stone, wood and steel, from our workshop to the client's residence: complete outdoor kitchens with fireplace and barbecue; marble interiors, from floors to formal bathrooms; and the climate-controlled pergola that produces and stores its own energy, engineered for the desert climate. On the project page you will also find the visions through which we imagine that residence: the master bathroom and living room in Calacatta Oro, the terrace where the same stone continues outdoors around the pool. They are drawings, not site photographs, and they show how we approach a faraway project: design and fabrication in Aprilia, installation by our own artisans, no compromise on materials.

Marble is heavy and, in its thinner sections, fragile. Every element is therefore packed in the workshop once finished: pieces are protected individually, stood upright or laid flat according to their shape, braced in crates built to the size of the load and numbered in the order of installation. The 3D design travels with the shipment like a map: whoever opens the crate already knows where each piece belongs. The means of transport, the schedule and the formalities are defined in the quotation, according to the destination.

A marble kitchen is finished only once it is fitted. Installation is carried out by our own team: the same artisans who followed the work in Aprilia travel with their tools, verify the measurements on site, level the worktops, close the joints along the veining and hand over a kitchen ready for use. Where the project involves a local contractor, we coordinate them, with working drawings and the assembly sequence. Appliances and services are specified and prepared to the standards of the destination country.

We follow every project in Italian and English, from the first message to the last joint, with drawings, quotations and correspondence in the language you prefer.
