Laminam is the revolutionary material of large, thin slabs: porcelain stoneware produced with latest-generation technology and high-precision machinery, in thicknesses from three to twenty millimetres — three and five for walls, cabinet doors and cladding, twelve (or twenty) for worktops. Laminam, the lightness of stoneware: questions and answers

What is Laminam and how thick is a slab?

Laminam is porcelain stoneware made in large, thin slabs, in thicknesses from three to twenty millimetres: three and five for walls, cabinet doors and cladding, twelve (or twenty) for worktops. It is light and withstands heat, frost, scratches and mechanical stress, which is why it is used for walls, tables, kitchen worktops and bathroom tops. In our Aprilia workshop we cut and finish it to measure.

Can Laminam be used for a kitchen worktop?

Yes. Laminam porcelain stoneware takes the heat of pots and pans, does not scratch in daily use and does not absorb liquids, so it does not stain. For a worktop we use the twelve-millimetre slab (or the twenty-millimetre one): we cut it with clean edges, make the sink cut-out to measure and align the patterns. The three- and five-millimetre slabs are kept for walls, splashbacks, cabinet doors and side panels.

Does Laminam really look like marble?

Laminam surfaces reproduce the most prized marbles, such as a Calacatta or a Roman travertine, as well as industrial materials like iron and grey stone. On this page we present twenty-five surfaces, from Calce Grigio to the boldest textures. If you are after the true, one-of-a-kind vein of a quarried block, we suggest you also look at our natural marbles.

Can Laminam be installed outdoors?

Yes. Laminam porcelain stoneware resists frost, heat, corrosion and sunlight, so it suits exterior cladding and outdoor tops as well. During the design stage we advise you on the surface and installation best suited to the setting.

Are Laminam slabs made to measure in Italy?

Every slab is cut, edged and finished in the Michelessi workshop in Aprilia, between Rome and Latina, where we have been crafting marble to measure since 1976. It is half a century of Italian craftsmanship applied to contemporary technical materials: considered joints, aligned patterns, measurements to the millimetre.

Do you deliver and install Laminam abroad?

Yes. We design in 3D, survey the site and install with our own team in Italy, and we also take on projects abroad, such as the one completed in Dubai. The slabs are light and thin, so they are packed and shipped with the care they deserve. Delivery times and arrangements are set out in your quotation.
