Giant Calacatta gold, Nero Marquina and Verde Guatemala marble slabs under raking light in a dark gallery, Michelessi vision of the material

Since 1976 — a Michelessi vision

Our marbles
and materials

Natural stones, semi-precious slabs and finishes: the catalogue of materials we select from quarries in every part of the world.

The slab — a Michelessi vision

The block
opens like a book

01 The block is still shut: on its head, the saw cuts like the pages of a book.

02 The slabs fan open: the same vein runs from one to the next, shifting a little each time.

03 The last two face each other book-matched: the gold mirrors on the joint, a single butterfly.

Water
wakes the stone

01 The bridge stands still over the slab: the threads of water fall on the stone without pause.

02 The tool works inside the veil of water: the marble never heats, it breathes.

03 The water keeps carrying the dust away: beneath the veil the surface stays alive.

Vision 01 — Our design studio

The kingdom of marble,
a library of stained glass

CALACATTA GOLD · NERO MARQUINA · VERDE ALPI

Design vision: a vertical library of giant marble slabs glowing like stained-glass windows in a dark gallery

Imagine walking through a library whose volumes are slabs three metres tall: each bay holds a different marble, and the light that grazes it sets it aglow like a cathedral window. This is a vision from our design studio: the warehouse turned into a gallery, where choosing a slab becomes a solemn promenade. You point to the window; the cutting is ours.

Vision 02 — Our design studio

The block opens
like a book

CALACATTA · BOOK-MATCH · MIRRORED VEINING

Design vision: a freshly sawn marble block opened like a book, its veining mirrored in perfect symmetry

When the saw passes through the block and the two halves open, the veining mirrors itself: the book-match, the moment the stone reveals a pattern no one has ever seen. In this project from our visions the block has just been opened, its flanks still rough from the quarry, its polished faces answering one another like the pages of a book. Every slab we will ever propose to you was born this way: from a first page.

The materials catalogue

Three paths within
the same passion

Every project begins with a choice: the material. For fifty years Michelessi has been selecting marbles, granites, onyxes and stones from every part of the world and bringing them to its Aprilia workshop, where bespoke marble craftsmanship turns them into kitchens, bathrooms, staircases, floors and furnishing elements. This catalogue gathers our materials by category: to walk through it is to cross the entire repertoire of stone, from the candour of the great statuary whites to the transparencies of the most precious slabs.

The natural stones are the foundation: marbles and granites chosen with care at the quarries through the professionalism of our technicians, the essential base for the quality of semi-finished and finished pieces. The semi-precious stones are the wonder: quartz, agate, amethyst and malachite cut and composed into unique slabs, born to astonish all who behold them. The finishes are the voice: sandblasting, honing, polishing, bush hammering and the other treatments that give every slab the character its project demands.

The four photographs that follow are the thresholds of this journey: the material, the cut, the light. Discover the materials category by category, or seek the advice of our experts: guiding you to the right slab is the part of this Italian craft we love the most.

Semi-precious stones — a Michelessi vision

Blue veins on white, an invitation to the precious

The cover of the section devoted to semi-precious stones is itself a promise: a slab with a warm white ground, crossed by blue veins that flow on the diagonal like marine currents, while golden and amber threads weave through the pattern and warm it with precious reflections. The camera follows one vein and meets another, then another still: it is a living lattice, never repetitive, in which the blue gathers and disperses with the naturalness of a sky crossed by the wind. This image introduces the Michelessi catalogue of materials at its most scenographic: stones that step outside the ordinary, colours that transform a surface into a work in its own right. Discovering the materials by category is the best way to find your bearings: natural stones, semi-precious stones, finishes, three paths that tell of the same passion for matter. Bespoke marble work always begins here, with the choice of the right slab: and before a pattern like this you will understand why our experts love to accompany you in person through the selection. Let yourself be advised: every slab has a project waiting for it.

Project vision: white marble slabs sculpted into a wave, black and white banner of the Michelessi materials and finishes catalogue

The collection — a Michelessi vision

Blades of white marble, sculpture of light

A wave of white marble crosses the frame: thin blades, set side by side, rise and fall like the crest of a cliff sculpted by the sea. The black and white photograph strips the scene to its essence: what remains is the light, the shadow between the blades, the contrast between the honed flanks and the deliberately raw summits, where the stone keeps the memory of its natural fracture. It is an image that opens the Michelessi catalogue of materials and declares its spirit at once: marble is not merely surface, it is volume, rhythm, sculpture. Every cut slab is a potential blade of light, and the craft lies in deciding how to make it sing: honed or split, polished or textured, protagonist or backdrop. The depth of field carries the gaze along the sequence of blades until it dissolves into the softness of the background: an invitation to enter, to leaf through the categories of the catalogue, to discover natural stones, semi-precious stones and finishes. Bespoke marble work is the art of giving form to this luminous material: and the Italian craftsmanship of Michelessi practises it every day, slab after slab.

Finishes

The cut and the water

The water bursts into a cloud of droplets and for an instant the cut becomes visible: the yellow machine advances across the stone, the jet cools the blade and washes the surface, and the beige marble, ordered in strata as thin as the pages of a book, lets itself be crossed with millimetric precision. This photograph, chosen as the cover of the finishes section of the Michelessi catalogue, tells of the most technical and at once most spectacular moment in marble working: the encounter between the hardness of stone and the intelligence of tools, mediated by the most ancient element of all, water. In the background, the workshop dissolves into a bright, industrious light; in the foreground, every suspended droplet captures a fragment of the scene. It is here that a slab begins its journey towards its definitive finish: sandblasting, honing, polishing, bush hammering, every treatment departs from a cut executed to the rule of art. Bespoke marble work demands this union of power and delicacy, and Italian craftsmanship governs it with the experience of those who know every response of the material. Step into the section: we will show you how many voices a single stone can have.

Natural stones

Statuario white, threshold of natural stone

Statuario white is the ideal threshold to the world of natural stones: a candid, luminous ground, crossed by grey veins that run on the diagonal with the elegance of an ancient script. The camera travels the slab and meets veins as fine as hair alongside bolder strands, where the grey gathers and frays into a thousand rivulets: it is the unmistakable pattern of the great white marbles, those that art and architecture have chosen for centuries when seeking purity and nobility. As the cover of the natural stones section of the Michelessi catalogue, this image declares a commitment: to seek out raw material of extraordinary quality, selecting marbles from quarries in every part of the world through the expertise of the company's own technicians. Every slab that enters the catalogue has been chosen with care, because the quality of semi-finished and finished pieces always begins with the quality of the stone. Bespoke marble work finds its foundation here: exclusive materials, Italian craftsmanship, and the will to offer you the finest possible result. Cross this white threshold: the collection awaits you.
