Sculptural black stove with fire alight on a stone plinth beside a raw marble block, a Michelessi vision

Since 1976 — a Michelessi vision

Not only marble:
all the warmth of experience

Fireplaces, stoves, barbecues, pizza ovens, gazebos and custom elements: the hand of Michelessi, beyond the stone.

Stone and fire — a Michelessi vision

From raw stone,
block upon block

01 Under the loggia, at dusk, the wall is still bare. On the floor lie squared blocks of refractory stone, travertine slabs on edge on timber battens, the wooden dome template, mallet and chisels: the barbecue and the oven are still all inside the stone.

02 Two craftsmen work without haste. Each block is cut, fitted to its neighbour and set dry, with tight joints; the level is checked, a tap of the mallet settles it. Course after course the base, the firebox and the oven dome rise, ring upon ring on the template, until the vault closes.

03 Then come the travertine worktop, laid slab by slab, the hand honing that softens every edge, and the gentle polish. The grill is fitted, the wood is lit: what remains is the barbecue and the oven, embers in the stone and the loggia taking on warmth.

Beyond the stone

Where marble meets
everything that marble is not

For fifty years the Michelessi name has been bound to bespoke marble craftsmanship; and yet, once past the threshold of our Aprilia workshop, you will discover that the same hand that hones the stone can also tame fire, bend metal, and design the warmth of a home. Not Only Marble is the page of our other worlds: gas fireplaces, electric and bioethanol fireplaces, wood and pellet stoves that heat both water and air, fireplace inserts, and gas, wood and charcoal barbecues.

And more still: wood-fired pizza ovens, for private and professional use alike, electric ovens, gazebos and custom elements, designed and built to your exact requirements. Every object is born of the same method as our works in marble, travertine and natural stone — listening, drawing, flawless execution — because Italian craftsmanship does not stop at the material it was born from: it carries its experience wherever there is a home to be made more welcoming.

Alongside the products of warmth lives La Maison di Michelessi: a collection of décor pieces for indoors and outdoors, chosen one by one to guarantee a unique, unmistakable style, with the possibility of composing your own wedding list. Two souls, one signature: all the warmth of our experience.

Project vision: satin-finished metal surfaces with geometric facets, Not Only Marble page of Michelessi Marble

Satin-finished metal — a Michelessi vision

Geometries of Light Beyond Marble

There is a moment when matter ceases to be surface and becomes light. Here the eye glides across an interplay of satin-finished metal panels, planes that fold and chase one another like creases of steel: each facet catches a different reflection, from the most luminous white to the deepest shadow, tracing a geometry that is essential and contemporary. This is the image that welcomes you to the Not Only Marble page of Michelessi, because the same devotion the house brings to bespoke marble work lives on beyond the stone: gas, electric and bioethanol fireplaces, wood and pellet stoves, barbecues, wood-fired pizza ovens, gazebos and custom elements designed around your wishes, through to the interior and outdoor décor pieces curated by La Maison di Michelessi.

In these surfaces that play with the light you will recognise the signature of Italian craftsmanship: the precision of the cuts, the purity of the lines, a profound respect for the material. Whatever the medium — marble, metal, fire tamed within a hearth — the gesture remains unchanged: that of those who build with their hands and their experience. Let yourself be guided: the warmth of your home can be born here too, where marble meets everything that marble is not.

Frequently asked questions

Not only marble: all the warmth of experience: questions and answers

What does Michelessi make besides marble?

Gas, electric and bioethanol fireplaces; wood and pellet stoves, including models that heat water; fireplace inserts; gas, wood and charcoal barbecues; wood-fired and electric pizza ovens; gazebos and custom elements. Alongside them is La Maison di Michelessi, with decorative pieces for indoors and outdoors and the option of putting together your wedding list.

Do you also make fireplaces that need no chimney?

Yes: bioethanol and electric fireplaces work without a flue and can be installed in an apartment. Gas fireplaces and wood or pellet stoves normally require a flue, which we assess during a site visit. The surround can be in marble, travertine or natural stone, worked in our own workshop.

Are your pizza ovens suitable for professional use?

Yes. We build wood-fired ovens both for private use, in a garden or on a veranda, and for professional use, as well as electric ovens. The dome is made of refractory stone and can be clad in travertine or marble, as in the vision of the loggia that opens this page.

Can barbecues and stoves be made to measure?

Yes. Every element is designed to your exact requirements: tell us about the space and the atmosphere you have in mind, and we will draw up the project in 3D. For barbecues you choose between gas, wood and charcoal; for stoves, between wood and pellet, with or without hot-water production.

Where are these products made?

In our Aprilia workshop, between Rome and Latina, with the same method we have applied to marble since 1976: listening, drawing, execution to the highest standard. The design, the stonework and the assembly are ours; the technical components, such as gas burners, stove bodies and inserts, are chosen together with you and integrated by us into the stone cladding.

Do you deliver and install abroad?

Yes. We design, build and install with our own team in Italy, and we also take on projects abroad, with shipping and installation agreed in the quotation. Fireplaces, ovens and barbecues travel crated, just like our marble works.
