Marble Showroom in Aprilia, between Rome and Latina

The Michelessi showroom and workshop stand in Aprilia, at Via Pontina Km 45.350, on the road that runs down from Rome towards Latina and the sea. It has been the same address since 1976: here the Michelessi family began working marble for building and interiors, and here, half a century later, every piece on these pages is still made: kitchens, bathrooms, staircases, fireplaces, floors. Showroom and workshop share one roof, and that changes the way you choose. The slab that wins you over is not a photograph in a catalogue; it is standing on a trestle a few steps from the machines that will cut it.

The door is open, but a visit is far more useful when it is arranged beforehand: a call to +39 06 9275383 or a WhatsApp message to +39 327 4764044 is enough to agree a time and to make sure the right person is waiting for you: a designer from the technical office if you arrive with a drawing, or someone who knows every slab by sight if you come to choose the stone.

The slabs

The heart of the showroom is the slabs: Calacatta, Carrara, Statuario, Nero Marquina, Botticino, travertine and onyx, plus granites and quartzites for a harder stone, and the technical materials used alongside marble on worktops: Dekton, Laminam, composite quartz and Fenix. The slabs stand upright, and they are meant to be touched: the difference between a polished, a honed and a brushed finish is understood by the hand before the eye.

The kitchens

In the showroom you can handle the modules of the Domina, Noè, Era 02 and Volo 01 kitchens, their doors, handles and worktops in marble, Dekton, Fenix and quartz at the usual thickness of two to three centimetres: opening a drawer tells you more than any description. Bathrooms and fireplaces

For the bathroom, the materials are there to be seen in the flesh: the travertine and Calacatta used for cladding, the onyx that lets the light through, the non-slip finishes for floors and shower trays; the basins and bathtubs carved from the solid block are then designed from the slab you choose. A little further on stand the fireplace surrounds, classical, contemporary and antique, displayed among columns and stone busts like a small museum, and with our technicians you choose the heating system that will go inside, a monobloc unit, a boiler fireplace, a pellet insert, a gas or bioethanol fire, so that stone and flame are thought out together. La Maison

At the same address you will find La Maison di Michelessi, the shop for furnishings and objects for the home: pale wicker, decorated ceramics, lanterns, embroidered linen and room fragrances, chosen with the same taste that guides the work in stone. For those who love sculpture, the Eternity Sculpt atelier gathers objects and works in marble made by the same hands as the workshop.

The workshop

On request you may also look into the workshop itself: slabs waiting on their trestles, the CNC machine following the drawing, the bench where the finish is completed by hand. It is the most honest way to understand what working marble in Aprilia since 1976 means.

From Rome

From the EUR district, take the Via Pontina, state road SS148, towards Latina and follow it for about 45 kilometres as far as Aprilia: the showroom is at kilometre 45.350, directly on the Pontina, with parking in front of the entrance. In normal traffic the drive from Rome takes under an hour.

From Latina

From Latina, drive up the Pontina towards Rome for about 25 kilometres as far as Aprilia, keeping kilometre 45.350 as your marker.

There is no need to arrive with a finished project. What matters is what lets us talk in concrete terms:

• The measurements of the space, even taken by hand: the length of the walls, the height below the windows, where the water and gas connections are, the size of the appliances if they have already been chosen.
• Photographs of the room as it is today, taken from several angles, and a few pictures of what you like: a kitchen seen in a magazine, a hotel bathroom, a fireplace surround.
• The floor plan, if the house is being built or renovated: a dimensioned drawing from the architect or the builder saves our technical office a great deal of work.

If you are working with a designer, bring them along or send us their drawings: we are glad to work on other people's projects, and choosing the slab in person is where client, designer and maker meet.

• The survey. If the site is in Lazio, our technician comes to measure in person, at no cost: the dimensions taken on site are the ones the stone is then cut to.
• The 3D design. The technical office prepares working drawings and three-dimensional renders set into photographs of your space: you see the kitchen, the bathroom or the fireplace already inside your room, with the chosen slab, before the first cut.
• The free quotation. Item by item, covering materials, machining and installation; delivery times are agreed with the quotation, according to material and site.
• Choosing the slab. Back in the showroom, or from the photographs we send you, we decide together which slab becomes your piece and mark where the cuts will fall.
• Cutting, finishing and installation. The slabs are cut by CNC and finished by hand in Aprilia and, where the project allows, the kitchen is dry-assembled in the workshop before packing; installation in Italy is carried out by the workshop's own team, and for projects abroad we arrange delivery and fitting, as we did for the Dubai project.
