We sell and install Pratic pergolas in Aprilia, Rome and Latina

Michelessi sells and installs Pratic pergolas in Aprilia, on the Via Pontina at km 45.350, and throughout Lazio: the louvred bioclimatic pergolas Opera, Vision, Sense, Brera, Carrera and Connect, aluminium pergolas with a fabric roof, covers without posts, glass walls, vertical zip screens and awnings. We have worked stone since 1976, and our technical office draws the pergola in the same 3D design as the stone outdoor kitchen, the paving and the pool; our own team installs it.

The department is in Bioclimatic pergolas, awnings and enclosures; the comparison of the three brands is in Gibus, KE or Pratic: how to choose; the other two brands are presented in Gibus pergolas and KE Outdoor Design pergolas.

Who Pratic is: the Friulian company of Fagagna, since 1960

Pratic is an Italian manufacturer of bioclimatic pergolas, fabric pergolas, covers and awnings: Pratic S.p.A., a single-shareholder company based in Fagagna, in the province of Udine. According to Pratic's official history, the company has been active since 1960 and in the 1960s invented and patented the «cappottina» (hood) awning; since 2023 it has belonged to the French group StellaGroup. The aluminium is powder-coated at the Fagagna plant, with a QUALICOAT Seaside certified pre-treatment, designed to withstand salt air, humidity and UV rays, and QUALICOAT Class 2 approved powders: a detail that matters on the coast at Anzio, Nettuno and Sabaudia.

Pratic bioclimatic pergolas: Opera, Vision, Sense, Brera, Carrera and Connect

A Pratic bioclimatic pergola is an aluminium pergola whose roof is made of motorised sun-shading louvres: open, they let air and light through; tilted, they give shade; closed, they keep out light rain, which the manufacturer states is channelled into the drainage built into the posts. Pratic offers nine models, with modules that can be placed side by side and, depending on the model, free-standing or wall-mounted. The figures, in centimetres, are the ranges declared for one module; the size for your home is set by the survey, and larger areas use several modules.

Connectadjustable from 0° to 140°width and depth of the base models (Brera P, Opera, Carrera P), up to 280fixed Spy Glass panels, mirrored or smoked; Alexa and Google Home

According to the manufacturer, the bioclimatic pergolas are made of aluminium and stainless steel and have rain, snow and wind sensors that close the louvres by themselves in bad weather. The snow load and the wind-resistance class of the pergolas do not appear on Pratic's web pages: we read them in the technical documentation of the chosen model and write them in the quotation, together with the manufacturer's warranty.

Adjustable, retractable or alternating louvres: which model to choose

To adjust light and shade continuously, Opera, Vision and Sense tilt their louvres; to have the sky open above the table, the retractable louvres of Brera P, Brera S and Brera B stack away and free the roof; Carrera alternates fixed louvres with moving louvres that overlap. Connect is the «mirrored» version: its fixed Spy Glass panels, in toughened glass, hide the interior by day. For planning purposes, letter b-ter speaks of movable or adjustable sun-protection elements: with partly fixed louvres, as in Carrera, we assess this at the design stage; the difference between a bioclimatic pergola, a pergotenda, a canopy, a gazebo and a veranda is explained in Bioclimatic pergola or pergotenda: differences, canopy, veranda. The principles common to all bioclimatic pergolas are in Bioclimatic pergola: what it is and how it works; wall-mounted and free-standing layouts in Wall-mounted and free-standing pergolas.

Pratic aluminium pergolas with a fabric roof, and covers without posts

Pratic's fabric pergolas are aluminium structures with a sliding, stackable PVC roof, motorised (on Level also manual), stopping in any intermediate position. There are ten models: Phoenix Air, Phoenix Free, Nomo, Rialto, Fusion, Meta, Level, Level 63, Evo and Mito. Phoenix Air is arched; Nomo has essential profiles; Fusion, Meta, Level, Level 63 and Mito are sloping, and Meta has a sliding fabric of up to 13 × 9 metres.

The covers for outdoor spaces, Tecnic, One and Veranda, have no posts: they are PVC fabrics on guides, to be fitted in a light well or between two walls. Tecnic, declared up to 1,300 × 800 cm, was tested in the Pininfarina Wind Tunnel; Veranda is designed to protect verandas and glazing. The retractable fabric is the classic case of letter b-ter; the comparison with the bioclimatic pergola is in Retractable-fabric pergolas.

Enclosures for Pratic pergolas: Glass Series, Raso and zip screens

Pratic pergolas are closed at the sides with Glass Series glass walls and with vertical screens. Slide Glass 60 is the sliding glass wall on two to eight tracks, with 10 or 12 mm toughened glass, up to 1,040 cm wide and 300 high; the manufacturer cites Istituto Giordano tests (air permeability class 2, water tightness class 1A, wind resistance class A1). There are also Fix Glass, fixed, and Door Glass, the hinged door without frames; the glass comes in four finishes (Clear, Satin, Smoked, Mirrored). Raso is the vertical screen that disappears completely into the pergola profile, with side zip guides; the fabrics are acrylic, glass-fibre or transparent, smoked or blackout PVC.

Pratic specifies that the glass walls are not insulating, though they help to moderate the temperature. Removable, fully transparent glass walls on balconies, loggias and porticoes are the VEPA of letter b-bis; a pergola permanently closed on every side must instead be checked with the local council, as we explain in Permits for pergolas in Italy. The full picture of enclosures is in Pergola enclosures: glass walls and zip screens.

Pratic awnings: folding-arm, drop and cappottina

Pratic awnings come in three families: folding-arm, drop (vertical) and cappottina. There are ten folding-arm awnings (T-Hide, T-Code, T-Way, Ellisse, Musa, Flex 300, Flex Box, Flex 375, PE 60/15 and PE 15) and Pratic presents them with its patented FlexControl system, tested in the Pininfarina Wind Tunnel; for Flex 375 it declares that the system absorbs wind stresses up to 70 km/h.

The drop awnings number sixteen models: T-Zone and T-Box Zip have side zip guides and can also be ordered with a solar-cell motor; T-Box Cables uses stainless-steel cables; then T-Loop, T-Square, T-Line, XX1, X3 and the PE models. The cappottina awnings are Capri, Grado, Selene and Ischia. In a condominium the choice matters: drop awnings project less than folding-arm ones, and colour and projection may be set by the building rules. For solar-cell motors and for pergolas that produce energy, the comparison of the three manufacturers is in Photovoltaic pergolas. All the awning families are in Folding-arm, drop and cassette awnings.

Lighting, sensors, home automation, decking and colours

Pratic pergolas are completed with lighting, home automation and decking from the manufacturer's catalogue. The dimmable lights are the perimeter LED Line strips in white or RGB, the Aura Light and Quadra Light spotlights recessed in the louvres and the Step Light lamps on the posts; remote control, app and voice command manage lights and movements (Home Automation). The Set decking is modular, in aluminium, with jacks that compensate for differences in level. The colours are ten Basic Selection shades, twenty-five Architect Selection shades and RAL on request, that is, over thirty shades in the range.

The Pratic pergola in a Michelessi design: stone kitchen, paving, pool

The difference between Michelessi and a pergola installer is that we are stonemasons: the Pratic pergola is born in the same drawing as the outdoor kitchen, the paving and the pool. In the 3D design we decide together where the posts fall in relation to the hob, where the downpipes discharge in relation to the stone paving, how the firebrick barbecue draws its smoke out through the louvres and which of the range shades sits well next to a worktop in granite, quartzite, sintered stone or marble. A kitchen under the pergola is outdoor furniture: if the pergola is closed on every side and services are fixed in place, we first ask for the opinion of the council's technical office. Structure, kitchen and paving are installed by the same team. The method is in Outdoor kitchen under a pergola; our other work is in Outdoor kitchens, Paving and Pools.

Planning rules for a Pratic pergola: what we check before ordering

A Pratic pergola with movable louvres or a retractable fabric roof, attached or annexed to the house and without permanent enclosures, in many cases falls under Italy's «edilizia libera» (works needing no planning title): article 6, paragraph 1, letter b-ter of Presidential Decree 380/2001, introduced by the Salva Casa decree. The municipal building regulations, landscape restrictions, distances and, in a condominium, the building rules all still apply. A pergola permanently closed on every side with glass walls must be checked with the local council. We carry out these checks ourselves, at the design stage, before ordering. Conditions and special cases are in Permits for pergolas in Italy and, for terraces, in Pergola on a condominium terrace.

Prices and tax deductions for Pratic pergolas

The price of a Pratic pergola cannot be read from a price list: Pratic does not publish prices and we give no figures on the page, because they depend on the model, the size and the number of modules, the fixings, the enclosures and accessories, the installation and the management of rainwater. The quotation, after the survey, is free; to compare two offers, have both refer to the same drawing, as explained in How much does a bioclimatic pergola cost.

The deductions for solar shading, which Pratic's 2026 guide also covers for awnings, do not name bioclimatic pergolas: a pergola can qualify only if it meets precise technical requirements. In the quotation we indicate which items may qualify, to be checked with your accountant (commercialista); the requirements, rates and dates are in the guide Tax deductions for awnings and pergolas in Italy.

References, warranty and service for Pratic pergolas

With Pratic products what counts is verifiable references, technical documentation and who answers after installation. Pratic's references are in the Projects section of its website and belong to the manufacturer: we do not attribute them to Michelessi. For what we install we answer ourselves, with survey, design, installation and service. According to Pratic's Customer Care portal, registering the product activates the ordinary and the conventional warranty; the serial number is on the certificate of authenticity, delivered with the correct-installation document. We state the manufacturer's warranty in the quotation.

Service is carried out by our team, from Aprilia, throughout Lazio: adjusting louvres, sensors, motors, fabrics and glass walls; we order spare parts with the product's serial number. For routine cleaning we recommend lukewarm water, neutral soap and a soft sponge, without a high-pressure washer, unless the manual says otherwise; the manufacturer's user manuals are on the Customer Care portal. Wind, snow and hail are covered in Bioclimatic pergola maintenance: wind, snow and winter.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Michelessi a Pratic dealer?

Michelessi sells and installs Pratic pergolas from Aprilia, on the Via Pontina at km 45.350, throughout Lazio: bioclimatic pergolas, fabric pergolas, covers, glass walls and awnings. Beyond the sale we take care of the site survey, the 3D design together with the stone outdoor kitchen and the paving, installation by our own team and service over the years.

Which Pratic bioclimatic pergolas do you install?

We install the nine bioclimatic models in the Pratic catalogue: Opera, Vision and Sense with adjustable louvres, Brera P, Brera S and Brera B with retractable louvres, Carrera P and Carrera S with alternating fixed and moving louvres, and Connect with mirrored panels. They differ in louvres, sizes and profiles: at the design stage we recommend the model that suits your dimensions and exposure.

What is the difference between Pratic Opera, Vision and Sense?

They are three bioclimatic pergolas with adjustable louvres. Opera and Vision tilt the louvres from 0° to 140°, Sense from 0° to 110°. Opera has 15×15 cm posts and a height of up to 300 cm; Vision, with minimal-line profiles, reaches 270 cm; Sense is declared up to 400 cm wide per module and can be fixed to a wall on the width side only.

Pratic Brera or Pratic Opera: which should I choose?

It depends on the roof you want. Opera tilts its louvres to regulate light and shade, but the louvres always stay above you. Brera has retractable louvres that stack away and free the sky above the table; Brera B has no posts, for light wells and existing structures. We show you both side by side in the 3D design, with the dimensions of your home.

What is Pratic Connect?

Connect is the «mirrored» version of the Pratic bioclimatic pergolas, built on Brera P, Opera and Carrera P. It has fixed Spy Glass panels in toughened glass, mirrored or smoked, which hide the interior by day, louvres adjustable from 0° to 140° and, according to the manufacturer, integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. The declared height is up to 280 cm.

Do Pratic pergolas withstand wind and salt air?

For salt air Pratic declares QUALICOAT Seaside pre-treatment and QUALICOAT Class 2 powders; for bad weather, sensors that close the louvres in rain, snow and wind. The wind-resistance class and snow load of the pergolas are not published on the manufacturer's pages: we read them in the model's documentation and write them in the quotation.

Do I need a permit for a Pratic pergola?

In many cases a pergola with movable louvres or a retractable fabric roof, attached or annexed to the house and without permanent enclosures, falls under «edilizia libera» (article 6, letter b-ter, Presidential Decree 380/2001). Municipal regulations, landscape restrictions, distances and, in a condominium, the building rules still apply. Closed permanently on every side it must be checked with the local council. We tell you at the design stage, before ordering; the conditions are in our permits guide.

Can a Pratic pergola be closed with glass walls for winter?

Yes: Pratic offers the Glass Series, with Slide Glass 60 sliding in 10 or 12 mm toughened glass, and Raso screens with zip guides. The manufacturer specifies that the glass walls are not insulating. If the pergola is permanently closed on every side the planning regime changes too: we check it with the local council before ordering.

How much does a Pratic pergola cost?

Pratic does not publish prices and we give no figures outside the quotation: the cost depends on the model, the size and the number of modules, the fixings, the enclosures and accessories, the installation and the management of rainwater. After the free survey the quotation lists every item, so you can compare it with other offers on the same drawing.

Which Pratic awnings do you install?

We install Pratic folding-arm awnings (T-Hide, T-Code, T-Way, Flex 375 and others), drop awnings (T-Zone and T-Box Zip with zip guides, T-Box Cables, T-Line) and the cappottina awnings Capri, Grado, Selene and Ischia. According to Pratic's official history, the company invented and patented the cappottina in the 1960s. We choose the type according to exposure, wind and the condominium rules.

How is the warranty of a Pratic pergola activated?

According to Pratic's Customer Care portal, registering the product activates the ordinary and the conventional warranty; the serial number is on the certificate of authenticity, delivered with the correct-installation document. We state the manufacturer's warranty in the quotation.

Can a stone outdoor kitchen go under a Pratic pergola?

Yes: we design pergola, outdoor kitchen, paving and pool in the same 3D drawing and the same team installs them. The kitchen has firebrick barbecues and ovens and worktops in granite, quartzite, sintered stone or marble. It is outdoor furniture: if the pergola is closed on every side, we first discuss it with the council's technical office.
